Captains,
A few moments ago we released updates for the PMDG 737 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This Update Round for 737:
This update is mostly "under the hood" stuff that spills into the 737 from the 777 development process. It includes improvements to drawing routines, computations for drawing images on displays, dimming lighted segment LEDs and some other logical improvements to support the work we are doing across the entire spectrum of PMDG products from the tablet to the 777 and beyond.
We rolled this update out to keep the public version in sync with what we are working on behind the scenes, and also the versions that are currently in testing for release in Marketplace for both PC and Xbox.
Speaking of Xbox:
Because I know some folks will ask: We don't yet know precisely when the 737s will appear in Xbox. We had a few hiccups (our side) that have slowed down the 737 testing in the Xbox environment. We are hoping to have the 700 and 800 in Xbox testing this week- and from there we can make a decision as to whether they are good to release or need some work.
Liveries in Xbox:
Xbox users for all PMDG products will have access to all (or nearly all) of the liveries available in PMDG Operations Center. We are sorting out details on them and will update you once we have those details finalized.
We will not be charging Xbox users for livery packs. We have long felt that liveries are a great benefit to PMDG customers and we think they give you wonderful options for enjoyment with our products.
PMDG 737-600 / 800 / 900 to Marketplace:
We have these in the queue and are working through them. The changes Microsoft has made to the ingestion process have really helped and we think we will break these free for you quite quickly now. The holdup has been on our side, getting all of the right pieces in place, and mapping out a strategy for how we want to handle various things that we hadn't thought of yet for Xbox users (liveres, for example!)
We are hoping to have the 800 in Marketplace next week- and **possibly** see both the 700 and 800 in Xbox in 7-14 days (but this is just a really strong guess right now.)
We are still learning how to "get good" with the Marketplace intake and approval process. I think we have it figured out now.
Other items:
Those who are "new" to PMDG or the PMDG forum have probably noticed that we are getting a bit quiet. This is always a sign that we are incredibly busy and have a bunch of things going on in the background. We are pushing quite hard on internal testing of the communications technology that we had to develop in order for our script based tablet to be able to communicate with the C++ based airplane. This has been a task we never anticipated, but the good news is that the work is nearly finished and we have mostly validated that it works and is robust.
I'll be back with more news as it comes available. In the mean time, we hope you all have a nice week ahead!
